Product-Market Fit
Calculator.

15 questions. A PMF score based on retention, growth, usage depth, revenue signals, and competitive position, not just the Sean Ellis question.

Retention & disappointment score
Organic growth & referral signals
Depth of product usage
Revenue willingness & price sensitivity
Competitive replaceability

How this PMF score works

This calculator scores product-market fit across five areas: retention, organic growth, usage depth, revenue signals, and competitive position. It borrows from Sean Ellis's well-known "40% rule", the benchmark where 40%+ of users say they'd be "very disappointed" without your product, and extends it with hard usage and revenue signals so the result isn't just a survey opinion.

Answer all 15 questions honestly, including the ones about churn and paid conversion, and you get a PMF level (not yet, early signal, strong fit, or scaling-ready) plus the two or three areas dragging your score down. Most early-stage founders overestimate retention and underestimate how much of their growth is still founder-led.

Frequently Asked Questions

Scoring in the top band generally means retention holds past week 4, a meaningful share of new users come from referrals or organic search, and paying customers exist without heavy discounting. Most pre-seed products score in the middle bands, that's normal, not a red flag.
